Andy Jackson Airpark Needs Your Help

Post by AlC »

The approach to the Andy Jackson Airpark is threatened by a small
number of homes proposed as part of a massive development project
immediately to our East. We need your help now with letters to City
Planning to move a few acres of open space and protect the site.

Details are at:
http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/andy_ja ... _your_help

Thank you,

Because I have WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS and i'm hoping that there will still be flying sites left when i can finally fly again, i used alan's form letter but edited it in such a way as to represent us. i then made 50 copies of it, which i will bring to the l/z on the next few weekends. that way everyone who doesn't have time to write letters can sign it, take it home in the addressed envelope provided, and merely mail it.

let's help our friends at css!

I printed and will mail my letter today. The letters need to arrive before September 15th. I recommend any pilot who ever flies Crestline/Marshall take the 2 minutes to print this letter and send it in. I'm sure the CSS pilots will help us if we need them for the gazebo project.

Who is will to help by sending a letter?

SEND A LETTER NOW

Post by greblo »

A great piece on KTLA, channel 5 last night. The CSS is doing a masterful job of getting the message out, but these letters are critical. Please everyone take the time to send one.

An assault on one flying site should be viewed as an assault on all sites.
If we don't come strongly to their aid when in need, don't expect them to come to ours.

For the altruists: Write the letter. It is the right thing to do.

For the selfish: Write the letter. We help them, they help us. Also, even if you don't fly there now, you will. And you will like it. It is a great flying site, and close by.

For the sentimental: Write it for Rob Kells.

For the rest of us: We have friends there. Let's help them out!

There are reasons to write for all of us. Please, just do it.

Being a selfish, altruistic sentimentalist with friends I wrote a customized one a couple weeks back and man do I feel good. You gotta try it! Kinda like that feeling you get when you climbed the rope in gym class, but better!
DO IT NOWWWWW!

Thanks all. Especially Janyce for making all the copies. I miss the ditto ones with the blue ink and that smell, ooooo that smell....sorry.

DO IT NOWWWWW

As far as I know, 45 out of the 50 letters I printed were sent in. 5 got wet (misters in gazebo) and became a pile of universal sodden mush. It's pretty easy to print out Alan's sample letter, sign it and send it in if you are too busy to write your own; so don't let the desire to write your own and never getting around to it stop you! The quality of the individual letters isn't nearly as important as the quantity of letters overall--even if they are form letters... It's a numbers thing.
