AMERICAN AVIATION HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Oral History Presentation Series l November 20
General Bob Cardenas to Speak at AAHS Luncheon
Retired USAF Brig. General Bob Cardenas is guest speaker at the AAHS’s November 20 luncheon Oral History Presentation Series luncheon. Aviation enthusiasts and historians are invited to attend from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mile Square Golf Course, 10401 Warner Ave. in Fountain Valley, CA (in Orange County; closest airport SNA).

Gen. Cardenas will speak on life as an Air Force pilot in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Using photos from his personal collection and the AAHS Photo Archives, he will discuss his experience as a test pilot flying such aircraft as the Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster, Douglas XB-43 Jetmaster, Northrop YB-49 “Flying Wing and others. Gen. Cardenas is rated in over 60 aircraft types – with stories about almost every one!

Gen. Cardenas was awarded, among others, the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, and a Presidential Citation.

The General will take questions about any of his experiences, and is happy to share notes about specific missions and assignments. The luncheon will include a slide presentation of some of the more interesting and little seen photos contained in the AAHS Photo Archives.

The luncheon is open to all interested parties, but reservations must be received by October 20.

For tickets and reservations (AAHS membership NOT required) to the luncheon,
send a check for $25.00 for each attendee to:

Found in 1956 by a group of amateur aviation enthusiasts and photographers, the AAHS is a non-profit society dedicated to preserving our rich American aviation heritage. Our collection contains more than 8,000 books and periodicals, and our photo archive contains more than 150,000 negatives, prints and slides – with both constantly expanding. Headquartered in Santa Ana, the AAHS welcomes volunteers to help us organize, maintain and expand Internet access to these collections.

The AAHS Headquarters (located near the corner of Warner Ave. and Harbor Blvd. in Santa Ana) will be open for visitors following the luncheon. Our website is www.aahs-online.org.
