Windgrams

There's been an addition to the local weather tools. TJ Olney's Windgrams are now being produced from the local RASP model data for our sites. See www.soaringpredictor.info/windgram/windmain.htm The windgrams display much of the important RASP data in a single diagram. There is a lot of information ...

Northern Model

The northern RASP that Klaus was running is no longer there and the URL has been taken over by others. I've added a more northern model to the SoaringPreditor site at http://www.soaringpredictor.info/rasptable/RASPtable.html. Just went up last weekend and haven't added Ord, Blackhawk, etc. Not sure ...

More On New Container

It's the full 40 feet (same as it's twin). It is the fully insulated variety which run quite a bit more than the standard ones. But we install without a pad so the insulation is required to keep it nice and cool inside. The pricing included tax and was pre-haggling. The bills are pretty much all in ...

Prices Must Be Down

CSS just bought and installed a nice (new to us) insulated container. Painted and delivered the asking price was a little over $6,000 and we did better after some negotiation. Rebar Dan installed the racking last week (not in the $6K). Check it out when you come to visit. Always glad to see you folk...

RASPTable Updated

I've incorporated a number of upgrades into the Southern California Regional Atmospheric Soaring Predictor. The latest Dr. Jack RASP software has been loaded to generate the predictions and the interface has been enhanced thanks to Paul Scorer's work in the UK. The sites are now all marked (scroll d...

For what it's worth

For what it's worth, the paraglidingforum http://www.paraglidingforum.com has probably the coolest setup I've seen. The default is the standard 'read down the list from first to last'. But there is also a small 'unread' flag on each topic indicating how many messages you have not read on that topic....

You've got it

Don:

You described the approach perfectly. Everyday Mike's LZ had the advantages on Sunday of being downwind of launch and being oriented uphill into the wind. While quite sheltered, it was working very well.

Andy Jackson Airpark Needs Your Help

The approach to the Andy Jackson Airpark is threatened by a small number of homes proposed as part of a massive development project immediately to our East. We need your help now with letters to City Planning to move a few acres of open space and protect the site. Details are at: http://www.crestlin...

Confused?

George, are you headed up for this weekend; Aug 9 (Sat), 10, (Sun) and maybe Mon the 11?

Is there a carpool headed up either weekend?

Thank you both for the generous offers.

RLF Status

Did this happen (I'm betting not). I was "in" for the first couple of re-schedules but not available the past 3 weeks.

If another date is planned I would still be interested, schedule permittng.

Corrected

Alex:

Getting the LZ and launch elevations into the right spots (you were correct, they were reversed) seems to have corrected both issues.

More sites now!

Alex:

I've included the sites in the Santa Barbara predictor and uploaded revised forecasts. They all have a "zero" tuning parameter at the moment so they may need some adjustment if they are consistently over or under predicted.

New & Improved

Major upgrade to the site to add other sets of sites, including Santa Barbara sites, that are linked to other soundings. Skew-t's also up and running on the new sites.
