While I believe much can be learned from this tragedy, it is difficult to look beyond the fact that two girls have lost their father, and a woman has lost her husband. My sincere condolences to Alex's family and to all who knew him.

As long as you paint a bull's-eye on the side for my "spot landings" :o , I'll vote for it.

Oh all right, I'll vote for Option C, the "Dahlsten Pavilion." I just have to get used to the idea that my wife now may want to come to the LZ. Not that there's anything wrong with that.... / Wives (or husbands) coming to the LZ? That's just not right! In the last 16 years, mine still has...

Inyokern

I understand someone flew over the back to Inyokern. Try asking Greblo again. I know whoever told me said it was almost the same distance as the flight to Palm Desert. +/- 130 miles, maybe by Ted Boyse as well? I talked to Andy Beem yesterday and he told me about Ted Boyse flying to Inyokern from K...

It takes special days to do these things. I've been flying here for 25 years, and have never been in the air on a day when anyone made it to Crestline, for example. Just bad timing, I guess... (OK, when I was a hang two, Bob England flew to Crestline and I was in the air, but heck, I was a hang two...

NW

There is also a place in Malibu that works quite well in NW, but it's a serious H4/P4 site.

What have been the best flights from Kagel?

I guess for overall distance it's Palm Springs, but what about other directions? Any over the back to Mojave or Barstow? What about west to Santa Barbara?

Crestline/Marshall Forecast

To get Rob McKenzie's daily forecast for Crestline & Marshall on a cell phone, text "FCST" to 41411. It's usually available by 9:15am each morning. The online version is at: http://www.flytandem.com/OBSERVE.HTM. Wind speed and direction at Crestline is also available on a cell phone by...

Altitude Alert

Is there a way to have an auto text message generated to a list of cell phone numbers if there is an "altitude alert"? Rob Yes, but one person on the list will have to manually send in the message. Here's how it works: To subscribe to the altitude alert list, text "highalt" to 4...

Cutter's Forecast on Your Cell Phone

I've set up a way to have Cutter's Call sent to a cell phone in a text message. Unfortunately, each message is limited to 125 characters after a specific word on a given web-page (the shga.com homepage in this case). To show the most important parts of the forecast, I've initially set up three key w...

No, I've heard that they eat fingers, but it gets even scarier just to the east in front of Lance's. Some of the locals may shoot you if you try to land too close them.
