Help save point of the mountain!

Post by msoultan »

Hey everyone,
I'm sure many of you have flown Point of the Mountain (Steep Mountain), and if you haven't, you should! It's an amazing place to fly with an amazing group of pilots and the mountain is now being bulldozed. Please help support the Utah Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association to stop the destruction of an iconic and amazing flying location!!

Ryan Voight took some video of the excavation:

Please share this with your friends and help support saving Point of the Mountain!

thanks,
Mike

Flying sites can't save themselves and most often there are too few hang glider enthusiasts in any one area to make the political process work for them. But together, with hang glider pilots, families and friends across the country, we can save and have saved flying sites like this one.

I urge all pilots to consider an attack on one pilot's flying site, an attack on all flying sites. Please get your friends and families to actively join this effort now.

I agree with greblo. One love, my brothers.

However, they should have seen this coming. State and Feds approve a new massively needed and popular new freeway decades ago. Now at the last moment they want to curtail the main cement plant that is going to build the freeway. Way way way too late. They are going to have problems. 20 PGers want to stop the freeway that feeds 10,000 people in the new deployments. Good luck.

This can teach us something. Get on that business early. Lets stop our mine before it gets going.

UTAH DOCTORS WARN OF DUST POLLUTION

"..respiratory disease and autoimmune disorders.."

http://www.abc4.com/content/news/slc/st ... Mcwsg.cspx

My 8 years of consulting for mining operations on the Tejon Ranch saw environmental regulations that required the use of Watering Trucks for Dust mitigation.

Commentary:
Interesting how Utah has lax environmental laws to entice jobs and growth but when you move there you will find your children's lung function and health will be significantly reduced over their lifetimes.

Don't worry it only takes 15 years for your lung function to return to normal, but some say it degrades permanently.

We'd have a better shot at this if we could get Hang Glider Pilots and PGrs placed on the Endangered Species list.

OP, I bet you could make a pretty good argument.
