Nice flight Alex! I was there on Friday too, but launched way too late - the convergence had already pushed thru. It was blowing 30 on launch and I barely got above 4000 feet!!! Rats!

Hi Dave, what time did you launch?

According to Camp 9 it switched between 10 and 11:
02 May 02:55 pm SSE13-G30
02 May 01:55 pm N14-G26
02 May 12:55 pm SE14-G24
02 May 11:55 am SSW11-G19
02 May 10:55 am SSE 8-G19
02 May 09:55 am N7-G34

If you're on launch during switch I normally wait for 15-20 minutes because some times it switching back and forth, but you certainly don't want to wait for SW breeze to kick in.

For Palmdale area breeze was predicted between 2 and 5, so we have to clear that area before 2, which we did. Here is KPMD wind:
02 May 3:53 pm SW17-G25
02 May 2:53 pm WSW 13-G21
02 May 1:53 pm CALM
In fact prediction was right and it started between 2 and 3.

Alex,
I launched shortly after 3:00 PM. The wind started really picking up about 30 min before that (I think). I should have been in the air by 1PM or so.

Is this a record?

Great flight Alex. I just came upon your write-up and I came here to post it in the forum and found you beat me to it.

I'm wondering if this is a PG record for Kagel?
