well it could be the weather station.
I switched to satellite mode and zoomed in to EW8724

In its simplest implementation, APRS is used to transmit real-time data, information and reports of the exact location of a person or object via a data signal sent over amateur radio frequencies. In addition to real-time position reporting capabilities using attached Global Positioning System receivers, APRS is also capable of transmitting a wide variety of data, including weather reports, short text messages, radio direction finding bearings, telemetry data, short e-mail messages (send only) and storm forecasts. Once transmitted, these reports can be combined with a computer and mapping software to show the transmitted data superimposed with great precision upon a map display.

A vario could use aprs to show live status in a race, allow team flying, report an aircraft entering the racecourse etc.

Flytec will be releasing a new mandatory firmware update for their FLARM collision avoidance system in March 2015.

Flytec say that applying this update to all FLARM devices is crucial – devices which are not updated will stop operating after 31 March 2015.

It includes safety features that increase the effectiveness and robustness of collision warnings, further decreasing nuisance alarms, for example by taking into account wind.

It also includes new features to alert about temporary danger areas such as skydiver drop zones, RC plane- and UAV zones.

6020 and 6030 upgrade

the FLYTEC 6020 and FLYTEC 6030, may now be fitted with the so called “passive FLARM. This part is the intrinsic FLARM-transponder. It is a tiny electronic unit, which is a built-in
component of the instrument. It responds, under low power consumption, to the signals of collision warning devices of other aircraft it has received. Due to this system the pilots in cockpits of helis, sail gliders or other aircraft are able to notice paragliders and hang gliders over a distance of several kilometres and may therefore react accordingly.
