Post by Don »

Here are the guidelines for the SHGA Summer Comp.

SHGA Summer Competition

PURPOSE: The purpose of the competition is to have fun and encourage H2 & H3 pilot participation !

REQUIREMENTS:

 All participants must be a member of the SHGA (dues paid current);
 Hang 2’s must have prior written approval of their instructor and fly within their restricted limits;
 All landings must be in the SHGA L/Z (no bailout L/Z);
 No time limits per flight, no limits on the number of flights submitted during the competition, no specific route needs to be taken;
 A properly completed Flight Log must be submitted within 72 hours of completing the flight.

GENERAL OUTLINE:

Task flights will be designed to require the contestant to navigate to multiple waypoints during the course of their flight. Time begins on take-off and ends on landing. Time does NOT affect score. The competition consists of three sub-contests and each sub-contest lasts three weeks.

Wed 7/5/06 – Tues 7/25/06
Wed 7/26/06 – Tues 8/15/06
Wed 8/16/06 – Tues 9/5/06

The HONOR system will be used. PLEASE NOTE: If an individual submits an “extraordinary flight with no GPS validation or it is not witnessed by another pilot the Judge(s) MAY refuse to accept the flight. The decision of the Judge(s) is final (see PURPOSE above).

SCORING:

 A different combination of Waypoints will be chosen for each of the three sub-contests;
 Different Waypoints WILL have different number of points awarded;
 Points will be given for H2s and H3s;
 H2s that have been approved by their instructor to fly beyond Locals & Trash will be scored as a H3;
 Points will be given for Entry-level and Intermediate Gliders;
 Each individual’s highest scored flight for each sub-contest will be used to determine the winner of the prizes. If an individual has multiple flights with the same score, the flight with the longest airtime will be used.

PRIZES:

 $100 for First Place – total of the highest score from each of the three sub-contests;
 $50 for Second Place - total of the highest score from each of the three sub-contests;
