Spring Air postponed

Post by gregangsten »

Because of the fatal accident last week we are postponing the Spring Air festival to June 6 out of respect for our fellow pilot, Markus. Most of us are not ready for a party now. We will also put together our own memorial for him at a another date yet to be determined.

I hope to see everyone out there on June 6 for a celebration of life and flying with the same positive attitude that always radiated from Markus. Let's also fly with a renewed commitment to keep safety first.

He would not want us to postpone, but to carry on with the festival. I feel the pain but soar in his honor.

What do you all think about calling it the Markus Spring Air Festival from now on in his honor? What can I do to make this happen?

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
