Seems very unusual for Kagel. Flight on Tuesday May 25th, 2:00 pm Windsports truck. Unfortunately a very think and very high cloud layer formed before we were able to launch. Pretty strong wind, enough to ridge soar some of the features if you flew slow and carefully and had a good sink rate. Very uncharacteristically smooth air but no thermals. Nothing out front, nothing over trash. And then, while I was attached to one of the ridge lifting bowls, bang, a thermal came through. It felt really weird after an hour of NOTHING. Was gone as quickly as it came. Then again another hour of NOTHING (and landing). Seems so strange - just one thermal, not none, and not many. A unicorn thermal. See attached barograph.
