One Million miles logged at Kagel

Post by dhmartens »

After a discussion with Jay Devorak a few months ago where he said he can routinely fly 50 miles on a good day via his gps track. That got me wondering exactly how many miles had been flown here. So I figured 50 pilots per weekend, 52 weeks a year and 50 miles each.

50 * 52 * 50 = 130,000 miles per year

At that rate it would take less than 8 years to log 1,000,000 miles.

There are a lot of variables: some people sink out, others fly 100 to 200 miles, some days aren't flyable, people fly during the week, and people have been flying here 30 years.

Thats farther than the moon and back and all without a drop of gas, except the massive SUV's driving us up the hill.

Still its an impressive fact. I wonder who has or who will fly that millionth mile.
