Another Yosemite trip for the weekend of August 10, 11 & maybe 12! If I get people who want to fly on Monday, I'll site monitor then too! Otherwise, I'm leaving Monday without going to launch.

If you missed the last one, feel free to come next weekend!

Go on Joey's tip. Go on my trip. But go! Yosemite has had very few pilots fly this year. Too few and they start thinking that we are more trouble than we are worth. They like to see reasonable numbers of pilots.

Flying sites: Use them or lose them!

Confused?

George, are you headed up for this weekend; Aug 9 (Sat), 10, (Sun) and maybe Mon the 11?

Is there a carpool headed up either weekend?

Thank you both for the generous offers.

Yes.
No.
You're welcome.

;-)

Seriously, I am going up this weekend, Aug 9/10/11. I will be monitor for Sat/Sun. If there is anyone who tells me by Sunday night that they want to fly Monday, then I'll drive to launch and send them off. (I'm not flying Monday.) Weather and clearances from the NPS permitting, as usual.

I have a full vehicle with my family.
Jim Mercadante has a full vehicle with his family.

I'm going up Thurs night/Friday morning.
Jim is going up Friday afternoon/evening.

Anyone else? I have no idea. I got a tentative yes from two guys who are coming from Fresno, I think. But they are so close to Yosemite that they just "show up". Or not.

If you've never been, it is worth it. Even if you been but not flown, it is incredible. Even if you've flown there, it is an experience to repeat. (I usually go 1 or 2 times each year.)

If you decide to go, let me know by Thurs noon (no later) and I can get you a campsite. (Tell me for which nights!)

Details: Camp at Bridalveil Campground (5-8 miles from launch). Arrive at launch between 6:30 and 7:00. Set up right away. Paperwork/briefing. Preflight (monitor does one on your glider too, but you must do your own as well.) Walk to launch. Fly! Land and break down. It is still early, you can raft, hike, bike, lay out and watch the best view in the world. On Sunday, the Ahwahnee (sp?) has a great (but expensive) Sunday Brunch. In a humongous room with a view of the cliffs. And if you fly Monday, there are fewer people on the valley floor than on the weekend.

Let me know via email or phone - I'm in the SHGA directory. Or you can sign up on the YHGA web site. The first time is kind of complex, but after that, it is very simple. Maybe a phone call or email is better this time.
