You can delete your own message as long as no one has replied to it. An "x" appears next to the edit button on the message. (Only the original poster can see the "x")
After someone replies to your post it cannot be deleted, because that would leave subsequent messages in limbo. And it would change the past, with unforseen effects on your children--and perhaps the Iraq War. Tempting, but unfortunately disallowed by the forumadministrator.
However, you can still edit your old messages, using the edit button.
That is an effective way to make yourself look right first, and make people who corrected you look confused and stupid. Recall, however, than even Harry Potter was reponsible for his actions.
