We will celebrate this historic occasion in the LZ this Saturday, Oct 25, starting at about 3:00 p.m

Gifts for Rome are encouraged. Everyone knows of his weakness for collectables. Let's indulge him. Gifts such as gopher-murdering devices would be welcome. Rob suggested pitching in for a new computer for Rome. He has lots of problems with his prehistoric Atari.

I will bring the materials for members to draw pictures of Rome. A drawing will be the price of admission to the barbeque. They’ll be collected and given to Rome. There will be awards for the best drawing. Sculptures or performance art renditions of Rome will be considered.

We will have the fixin's for tacos - - Corn and flour tortillas to be grilled on the barby, as well as lettuce, tomato, cheese, and salsa. For filling, we’ll have fish, beef and chicken filling. We’ll also prepare some veggies for grilling. Members are requested to bring pot luck and snackables. I think it would be nice for the Club to provide soft drinks. That means we'll need ice, too.

Today, October 26, is the last day you may wear "79" which is the 22nd prime number. Moreso, we recall the year '79, i.e., 1979:

Of Rome, Club history wrote:Then on May 24, 1979, Rome Dodson went looking for another flying site to help do away with the crowds that had developed at Sylmar. He took Jack Jungerman with him up to the top of Kagel Mountain. The road was almost impassable, and they had to fill ruts with rocks on the way up. For some reason, they did not choose to fly from the area where our launch ramp is now. Instead, Rome and jack went to the point just to the right, where Eddie Tadeo likes to take off from today. There were burnt tree stumps that had to be cleared first. Their landing area was at the north end of Gridley Street, just north of where we land today. Having "discovered" a new flying site, Rome then went to the Southern California School of hang Gliding, now Windsports, to tell Rich Grigsby, who later tried teaching intermediate students there.
