Got to work this morning and saw the wood chips below Santiago Estates on fire and wouldn't you know it, Santa Ana winds. Called 911 and drove over there with a shovel and started on the open flames. Fire trucks arrived around 10 minutes later and made fairly quick work of things.
This is an area where there are a lot of thick wood chips. This stuff smolders down deep, sinisterly for weeks, then add a little wind and poof!
