Visiting Pilot 3-6 Nov

Post by Steve Ford »

Hi Gang:

I'm Steve Ford from Lakewood, CO. H4 and Region 4 Observer. 18 yr pilot, almost all foot launch mountain flying. Local site is Lookout Mtn (Mt Zion) in Golden, CO and I frequent Steamboat, Williams, Wolcott, Villa Grove, Dry Canyon (NM), etc. Ken Grubbs, Jim Yocom, and Mark Windshiemer can vouch for me if you need references - I think many of you know them.

My girlfriend (Melinda) and I will be in Sylmar over November 3-6 (about 8 blocks from the LZ it appears) visiting her folks. I've already contacted Joe Greblo about getting a tandem for my girlfriend and I think we'll be doing that.

'been studying the site rules and LZ images (including approach patterns and airspace issues) - kudos on the information provided on your website! 'have also followed the current LZ discussion and - since I like uphill landings - will most likely be using the wash should I get to fly.

'looking forward to meeting you and perhaps flying with you.

Cheers,

SF

Hi Steve, Welcome to the most social HG club in the universe. I know Mark W. He's been around longer than anyone I know. The LZ is much improved since the pre and post fire cleanups. If you want to see a keel mounted video of launching and landing here: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v15907627ZAsentTB
Note: I came in low due to sink and landed a little short of the landing line.

Hope to see you in November.

Nice work! Out-n-returns are my favorite kind of flights! The video production is very cool too - 'would enjoy learning how you cut in the sat view and flight track.

Can one experience conditions for similar flights in the late Fall?
