We have a Macbook and digital projector -- so thanks go to Eric Brown for helping us with this detail. Thanks also to Dave Cutter who will provide us his great PA system

We still need about 20-30 minutes content in DVD format.
Please reply and let me know what you have for our entertainment.

Need 3-4 volunteers to help me with set up. Arrive to Encino Rec at 4:30pm. Please reply and let me know if you can assist.

Cheers!

Hi Lynn, I own a copy of Bill Liscomb's wonderful film, Big Blue Sky, which chronicles the birth of modern HG. There is some footage from the 1974 Annie Greensprings nationals at the old Sylmar flying site and lots of footage from Playa Del Rey and Torrance Beach. I have already converted the data to a format that I can edit into just the vignettes that concern the two SHGA related sites. I also had a long chat with Bill and have his permission to do this.

For another day, he even offered to give our club a double feature of Big Blue Sky and Playground in the Sky by Carl Boenish, which has even more 1971-2 footage.

If no one else is doing the editing, I can do it, or if someone like Eric or somebody else is, I can give them the Sylmar segments for Big Blue Sky. I'm easy to reach.

Cheers, Jonathan

This sounds great. Take a shot at it and bring the SHGA related footage. I think it will be a great addition.

Does anyone out there have our Dockweiler 2000 pilot reunion on DVD or jpg images on CD? It would complement the footage that Jonathan is putting together.

Thanks,

Lynn

PS ~ Still looking for a few kind souls to help with set up :D

Hey Lynn, I will be there to help set up. Do you need help loading up to get the stuff to site as well? When would you like me to meet you and where?

Thanks for your willingness to pitch in. Arrive to the Encino Rec Center by 5pm to help with set up. Details and address are on the home page.

We need a couple people to bring coolers w/water and beverages. Rome is bringing coffee so that's covered.

It's a Potluck -- favorite dishes are welcome.

Does anyone know if Jonathan is bringing SHGA video?

If you have questions call my cell: 818-421-3251.

See you soon!

I picked out about 19 minutes of video segments from Big Blue Sky for 1971 through 1974 that show scenes from the first HG meet in Newport Beach in 1971; Torrance Beach, Playa del Rey, Palmdale, Sylmar, and I think Elsinore. Also, there is some great, wacky footage of Bob Wills and some old whacks. I haven't gotten anything else from the old days, unless someone out there has something I can add at the last minute. I can probably edit it down a little further. If we play it on a PC I can save it into Windows Media format which would play very well. I can also save it into DVD format. If anyone has any other old footage in film and can play it, that would be pretty cool. I love the smell of old movies and screens.

Sounds great! I will bring my laptop as backup to the Macbook we have lined up for AV.

I think 20 minutes of HG memory-lane will be wonderful.

Looking forward...

Great party, everyone! Thanks to all who brought all the delicious food and helped in every way. This is my first event with the SHGA and I'm glad I came back to the sport after 26 years away and joined this great and diverse club.
