Cell phone repeater has been in since 10/30 seems to be working good, the gazebo repeater antenna is directional so you have to be North of it. So far there have been reports of it working as far as Jose Bs ghetto area which is the last picnic table to the North. The operational coverage area is a 60-70deg pie slice 10,000sq feet out. That is in a typical installation with walls, line of sight it should be a little larger. You will not get good reception South of the gazebo behind the directional repeater antenna. The final installation will be done after enough positive feed back. The final install will consist of running conduit & wire under ground to the glider storage unit for the windsock antennas. The signal booster will be in a water tight box & have its own power outlet.
I would like other reports-like what carrier & how many bars & any dropped calls in the operational area.

Funny About That

Post by JD »

I forgot about the temporary repeater install and was amazed that I was able to get 2-3 bars on my T-Mobile phone in the parking lot. I made my $ contribution. I hope everyone else who volunteered has also done so.

Now that it's in and working fine, Malury and Sebas are going to make the installation more permanent. All that's left is for the club members to remember to contribute to the project. I'd hate to see Sebastian have to go into the hole while trying to help the rest of us. Please put your contributions in the membership pipe with your name and amount, or send a check to Katherine.

Hey, I must have missed the posting that discussed the agreed upon contribution from pilots....

Unless we are just making donations based on our ability and interest....

Please let me know if we have a set amount like, 10 or 20 bucks... :-)

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Bill;
I think it is voluntary and based upon interest. The SHGA will provide matching funds up to 1/2 the total cost or $300.

I'm in for $20 bucks (even though it doesn't work for Nextel phones).

It helps your students call home and gloat about their experiences. It also helps our club's guests and visitors which ultimately helps bolster membership. We all win with this effort to make or LZ more modern than bamboo and Visqueen.
