Sylmar Hang Gliding Association

Good conditions today at Sylmar with near perfect launch conditions. Jose B showed us early that the lift was fine and rode the thermal over 5k right off of launch. We all joined in pretty quick.

In the end I climbed over 6300 a couple of times before I couldn't stand the cold any longer (no bar mits made it more than chilly). Made the run to Little T twice and one to Big T. West towers was good as usual and the lift was just about everywhere.

The west end of the range looks like it belongs out in the desert. Easy to spot birds gaggling from far away.

Nice photos Jeff! I'm glad it was good at Kagel. I wasn't sure whether to head there or Marshall, and opted for Marshall where I launched at 1:33 PM between good cycles in a SE wind and never got more than 150' above launch then landed after fifteen minutes. Had I waited an hour I would have skyed out and I was dressed for 35 degrees too. Several Crestline pilots did get up high enough to freeze. Gene made it to 7,000 and flew between Strawberry and Billboard before and copied my Elsinore style and belly landed after and hour and a half. I was testing my Rotor Kickass harness for the first time which messed up my concentration or I might have gotten high enough to where the lift was good. Durrand nevers answers my emails so thanks for letting me know what he's been using for a camera. I gave up emailing him after the fourth or fifth failed attempt. The wanker!

Sorry I didn't come out to Kagel today, but I still had fun. Hopefully, Saturday will be good for the Falcon league. I plan to be there.

Gregg, I just tried it and Chip's file opened fine using Acrobat 7.0 and Firefox.
