Request for video

There is ongoing interest on the OZ Report in the Moonwalk landing technique. If anyone has (or is willing to tape) some video of a couple of good examples of this, please let me know.

What we want is the full final, run while still gliding, slowdown, dancing moonwalk and nearly no flare. We are trying to show those who are having landing problems that there is an alternative to waiting for the perfect moment, then flaring hard.

Well, if someone is lucky enough to be in the LZ on one of my 2 or 3 flights a year, just turn the camera on. I don't think I have had a true flare landing in my 15 years! Always run out.

Please note that I'm trying to show the difference between a "full runout" landing and a "moonwalk" style landing. If you aren't running with your feet on the ground significantly before the nose is raised (or normally would be) then that isn't what I'm trying to show.

There are lots of folks who don't quite get the difference, and a video would help a lot.

Yeah, I tend to "earth run" more than moon walk. Good distinction George!

Nothing wrong with the "Earth Run" (Good name, that!) But it isn't the same as the "Moon Walk." And there are lots of folks who just don't want, don't think they can, or don't like to run that hard. I've been touting the moonwalk on the OZ Report, and many don't get the distinction. Hence they are unwilling to try it. But quite a few might be if they could see how easy it really is.

Agreed! I was not saying they are are the same and I was definitely not saying the earth run is preferable. I think the moon walk is preferable, and I wish I could really master it. But then, if I could get to fly more than twice a year, perhaps I'd have more success!

Hopefully I will see you out there sometime...this year!

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was only making sure that nobody spent time getting a video to me only to find it wasn't what I needed. Just trying to save you some work.

And Earth Run is a great name for the non-Moon-Walk version. Gotta remember that one!

I hope to be out flying again soon...
