My XC flight with Southside & Dean S from the Eliminator in Santa Barbara to Lake Casitas in Ojai. Southside did 57 miles to past Piru and Dean landed a few miles short of him, while I bombed out at 19.5 miles for the longest flight of my life.

I still owe you for marking that thermal over the wash for me last week that saved my Towers flight in my Falcon.

I'll have fonder memories of that field the next time I see it from high overhead. Before I launched, I had announced my intention to land at the Kagel LZ. If I was aware that I was actually high enough to continue on when I first arrived at Noon Peak, I would have proceeded onward and possibly caught up with Dean and John alter. Ironically, if I caught up to them late enough, I may have been able to continue past them as the development had improved after they landed. I ran all three of our tracks together in SeeYou animation and will try to post it tonight.
I still have a great deal of flying practice ahead of me. Hundreds of hours to be sure. I only have 60 hours of flying since last summer when I came back to the sport after a 26-year break. I just got done replaying Chip's flight to 29 Palms in SeeYou. Slowly, it's beginning to make some sense to me.

I once landed in the same field, along with Andy and Ron - but we came from Kagel. Our goal was Santa Barbara but we got sucked down into the same field as you.
