Any information on when/if this is taking place? Usually in April - right?

You are correct!

The annual Spring Aire Festival takes place some time in late April - mid May. This year, we are looking at the middle of May with exact date TBC.

Stay tuned because it promises to be great fun as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary all year long!

As stated on our Home Page, the annual Spring Air Festival will take place Saturday May 23rd (rain day Sunday May 24th).

We need volunteers! Please let me know if you can help with any of the following:

- Arrive 9am to help set up tents and BBQ area
- Arrive 10am and help create spot landing areas
- Bring home brew or sodas and ice
- Create a flyer that we can distribute throughout the neighborhood (I will provide copy)
- Observe and track spot landings (We really need help w/this task. It's best if we have 2 or more people)
- Organize balloon drop
- Provide a small PA system w/CD player to use during the day and for the Awards ceremony

As SHGA enters it's 25th year, let's make this event a great celebration!

Hi Lynn,
I am new to the club, and the Spring Air Festival sounds like a great time. I will volunteer for anything as long at it is legal. Well...... ok.... I will volunteer for anything:)

If our kitchen remodel is completed by then (it started in late November

) I will try to bring some Chili - to supplement the BBQ.

Good luck w/the kitchen remodel. If you don't make Chili for this event remember we get SERIOUS ABOUT CHILI at the Dahlsten Cup, later in the year.

We still need folks to help observe and track spot landings. We are looking for a few people who can cover this task for 1 - 2 hour shifts. The good souls who help with this task receive admiration, adoration, free beverages and

a guaranteed seat on a truck up to launch.

Excellent! Thanks, Tom.

We typically have 1 spot landing person posted for early landings from 12noon - 2pm; then a second shift, with two people, from 2-4pm and finally 2 more people cover 4-6pm or until the last pilot lands.

Depending on your rating and your level of obsession to fly that day, you decide which shift works best for you. Just let me know. And, try to round up a buddy. It's a lot easier with 2 people.

I'll bet there are as many great guacamole chefs as chili cooks in SHGA. So I challenge all to a Guacamole-A-Thon at the Spring Air Fest.

Bring your homemade guacamole to the LZ by 2pm. We'll provide chips, scoring forms and scoring oversight. Ballots will be tallied when we run out of guacamole or 1/2 hr. before the general awards ceremony.

Spring up and get your "Guac" on!

I can help Matt with the spot landing circles if it's needed. Are H2's allowed to observe and track spot landings if we wear a yellow streamer around our forehead?

Anyway.. I'd like to track spot landings if it's needed.

Brandon, We definitely need your help with making the spot landing circles and tracking spot landings. Be at the LZ at 10am to help with the circles. And yes, SHGA requires all H2's to wear their yellow streamer around their forehead during such activitiy

On a separate detail:

In an earlier post Katherine brought up the idea of a Guacamole contest. I've decided to take her up on that opportunity and now invite any of you with worthy Guacamole recipes to our Spring Air Guaca-thon! In addition to our flying competition and BBQ, I know we have some talented Guac-ers among us. Please bring your Guacamole to our contest.

I know this is really late to ask .... but, for the competition, when will the pilots be meeting?

That is a really good question, Mike.

Historically, pilot regististration is 10-11:30am for GPS settings and the Pilot meeting is at 11am.

I will be in the LZ by 10am. You can all the LZ or to my cell phone if you have questions.
