No Time for Talking - A video you can really hear!

On Friday the 13th, the forecast looked potentially epic at Sylmar. I came dressed for climbs to 8,000' and ready to go as far as possible. Unfortunately, that never happened and what I got instead was 27 minutes of scratching every which way I could just to sustain the flight long enough for it to turn on, which it finally did an hour after I landed but late in the afternoon. I was so preoccupied during my scratch fest that I didn't have a moment to make any comments while in flight. The ambient stereo sound quality is the best I ever recorded and I edited everything down to the most interesting 6 1/2 minutes from the flight.

Thanks for posting all of these videos. As a beginner who plans on doing my first solo later this Spring, I am learning a lot about catching thermals from your videos. I'm back doing beach lessons, so it's good to be reminded of the goal of mountain flying.

I can only hope that I have the time for a couple of flights a week like yourself.

Your camera/audio/editing skills make the videos a joy to watch!

Thanks, Busby. It's encouragement like that, that is helping me go broker by the day.

I need to do more client work and less of following my dreams and my passions. Funny how these things work. Anyhow, I'm glad I could help ease you into the lift. I'm looking forward to reading your flying reports down the line.

Thanks, Wayne. Conversely, I flew over three hours at Crestline today and shot over two hours of video but never shut up for even 30-seconds. It was of course, a completely different kind of day. My total altitude gain was over 17,000' so I was busy but I guess I was in the mood to talk, and sing, and joke............
