Sylmar Hang Gliding Association

Thanks to Henry Golian and Joe Greblo for making all the paragliders feel welcome today. There was a whole gaggle of us. And to Aaron for joining me on my first Kagel XC and his first XC ever I think. I had so much fun trying to stay in the game and trying to make it to my neighborhood in Pasadena. At the same time, it was not fun to be deep in the range with the relatively strong north wind, so Aaron and I stayed out front most of the flight. I sort of led us towards Verdugo Mtn, which I think was an error. Sorry, Aaron. Then, I got a lucky low save, as we were setting up to land in Topanga. I made it back up to Lukens and then to the wash below JPL. Then I walked to my home in Pasadena. I've wanted to "fly home" since getting a paraglider. So stoked it worked out well.

Thanks also to Tod for the Kagel idea, to Dean for canceling the Marshall comp early enough for us to make the trek to Sylmar and to Mark for retrieving Aaron in Topanga.

Thanks! There will be more in time. I will eventually have a 30+ minute, detailed video from my 51-mile flight of march, 28th.

According to our fearless driver Dana, the last pilot she picked up by the Glendora School District building & Willow Springs Park (where I landed) was a paraglider pilot named, Foster and he actually landed on the adjacent street. I have been encouraging some Crestline PG pilots to come out and fly Sylmar and go XC. The landing options are much greater. I hope to learn PG eventually and do the same myself.

You're joking? Wouldn't they end up dragging over the bike path or snagged on the light poles,. etc.? I don't think so. Check with Joe or Greg for the rules.
