Marina Beach Comp May 9-10

Post by WingNutz »

Anybody want to go to the comp at Marina Beach the weekend of May 9-10?

Marina Beach is a unique and fun place to fly. Your wingtip is two feet from the dune and you're flying at 8 feet agl, which is 12 feet msl.

I thought flying Marina Beach was over, but I'm glad to see it's back.

I might drive up if there's sufficient interest. Who's in?

Hey Larry,

I've heard it's a lot of fun up there. I'm thinking about going. It will depend on the weather, but I'm hoping to head up on Friday and come back on Monday.

It would be great if we could get a bunch of us from Kagel to go!

Cheers,

Shawn

by the looks of the videos, you definitely want to use knee hanger harnesses there; just like at Dockweiler Beach.
(At least looking at the 1st video.)

Opps!!!! I guess you don't have to use only knee hanger harnesses by the looks of the second video.

I am interested - I have never been at Marina Beach. Always wanted to fly there.
Any suggestions on accommodation?

If you want to fly Marina, you should come to Dockweiler for a day to practice.

Looks like the wind will be plenty strong enough and in the right direction. I'm going to head off Friday morning and hopefully get a flight in in the arvo.
Check out the NWS forcast:

Hope to see some Kagelites up there.
