rome gave me an idea. i find it kind of tragic and horrible that mitch mcaleer, a true maverick and icon in our sport, doesn't even have a hang glider. whether you like him or not is completely beside the point, there is NO ONE ELSE in the WORLD who can do what he does when he flies. his talent, style, and artistry are incomparable and when he retires--OR SIMPLY QUITS BECAUSE HE CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A HANG GLIDER--we lose a precious part of hang gliding history. imagine laird hamilton without a surfboard or the means to tow-in...
can't we forego something or other in the construction of a gazebo or the square footage of desert we water and give the man a T2C? we could probably talk willswing into letting us have it at cost, since it would be for a man who inadvertently advertised the sturdiness of their gliders EVERY time he flew, and would continue to do so....
seriously guys,
how do we make this happen? can we propose a vote? there's more money in our "savings" than we even NEED! this isn't "buy a falcon for the impoverished dumb-ass who whacked!" this is, help THE best aerobatics artist in the WORLD continue flying...

not at all, this is so much bigger than you or me...i'm just saying that it's impossible to watch the man fly and not feel like you're in the presence of someone great. you could give ANY pilot at our site a grant for the next 5 years to practice endlessly, and mitch would still win. he's THAT good. it's a part of our sport that is DYING! and THE MASTER of that dying art doesn't even have a hang glider. this goes far beyond any little snide barbs or comments...that's what i'm trying to say. this is about our sport, what we pass on to the generation of x games maniacs who think hang gliding is slow and boring...whatever...

I'm a man and I surely wouldn't want to be a boy again and I'll tell ya why because the boy toys suck '' Everything I have or ever got in this world I had to work hard for it including my HG. It's simple first you get a Job any thing ( saving your money is whats important not how much you make)+ hard work=making your dreams come true. And let me tell you If I were to lose my truck ,boat, bike ,HG to an accident or what ever and I really wanted it back I would find a way to make it happen.I like the way your pulling for him but I think your gonna find that he's got to want it bad enough before it will happen. What separates the men from the boys is the price of their toys. Good luck anyway.:)

Well said Oscar 98% of the club members have to work to support their habits and some of the club members don't fly enough because they can't afford it,even most of the competition pilot have to work in some way or other to support their habit, buying just a hang glider is not the biggest problem it's the traveling all over the place what cost more money than the hang glider.Janyce I'm sure Mitch is a nice guy and talented but you didn't write anything why he doesn't have a glider is he unemployed or sick or is there something wrong with him so we could feel sorry for him only then you would have some chance to get some help, like Oscar sat if you want something bad enough you have to work for it, working as the hard part the rest is just a play

you know what? i should never have brought it up. i want to see him with a hang glider from a purely selfish point of view. while i don't possess the gift myself, i've always been able to RECOGNIZE people who have IT--it's so easy to spot style, grace, artistry, and seemingly effortless mastery. we have to witness so many idiots, incompetents, bumbling fools, and mediocre people in so many walks of life that when someone TRULY exceptional comes along--THAT in itself seems reason enough for rewarding them...if he had a decent glider, then WE would be able to to experience the joy of watching him fly!!! it's for US, before it's all gone. after mitch, there won't BE anyone else who can do what he does...that should be obvious! but he probably wouldn't accept a glider anyway so it's a moot point.
enough said, i officially, irrevocably give up!
