Rome - thanks for bringing up the trees - I am of the opinion that a 6th tree should be added on the north end, equally spaced with the others. There is a large patch of very good grass here but there is no shade. I agree with Rome that the west wind rotor concern is minimal and that we will get more benefit overall by adding this tree. I am interested on other opinions on this before I proceed. If it were only up to me, I would have the tree in the ground before the end of next week. Please speak up with your concerns NOW.
Ultra Greens, the nursery on Maclay, is offering $50 off on 24", boxed, shade trees over $169 (I have a coupon). I don't know how much a new white alder will cost but I'm in for $20, if anyone else is up for planting. I may even help dig the hole. If there are enough takers, maybe we should get two or a larger specimen that won't take forever to provide shade.

Are we talking about little trees what takes 20 years to grow to put up any shade I might not live that long so I'm for a bigger version, you got my 60 dollars
Thanks for all the donation offers but keep your money. Our board president has judged this LZ improvement worthy of club funds, and within his authority to approve. I don't know how previous presidents were to deal with on issues of incremental LZ improvements, but this one recognizes where club money is well spent and approves without undo holdups. This has been true for all the plumbing and lawn improvements done so far this year. Thank you Joe V!
I will wait another day or 2 to be sure most people have read this and posted their opinion. If there are no good reasons not to plant the tree, expect to see it in by the weekend.
I suggest we have a tree planting party and use the Extra money for food & ice cold refreshments. and If we plant a large tree(like Jt & Max Suggested) we can enjoy it's shade this summer . and it would make the break down area larger and cooler.
Acting as our Activities Director, it would be my pleasure to head up the Tree Planting Celebration. I ask that we take a moment to honor our founding members and if there's a way to have a lot of fun doing so, that's a good thing.
