2009 Dahlsten Cup & Chili Cookoff

Post by Lynn McLaughlin »

2009 Dahlsten Cup Competition and Chili Cookoff is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd.

We are looking forward to our usual schedule of events beginning with set up at 9:30am and pilot registration at 10:30am. Other than your best flying skills, please bring your most delicious chili for our Chili Cook-off. I will post a separate forum notice outlining the cook-off rules and guidelines.

Let me know if you have any question.

Soon we fly!

Thanks JC!

We need 4 volunteers for tracking our Spot Landings. The Spot Landing volunteers are only needed for a couple hours each -- late morning, mid/late afternoon.

I will consider JC 1 of 4 Spot Landing volunteers. Who else can step up to assist?

(BTW, JC - Since you are first to step up to volunteer, I will help you find a ride to launch if you decide to fly. You can fly morning and track landings in the afternoon or visa versa. Just let me know your preference...)

Sounds good. Please arrive to the LZ by 9:30am so we can show you what is involved, get a ride to launch and fly in the morning. We will count on you to help us track landings in the afternoon.

All, We still need a couple more spot landing volunteers. Please let me know if you can assist. Also, I need folks to help with setting up the shade structures, tables and making spot landing circles in the morning. If you can assist, please let me know and show up to the LZ at 9:30am.

Soon we fly,

Lynn

Awesome pics Tom. I love the three with Sebastian tossing the little one, the vertical hangglider, and the shot of the turn to final with the red mountain in the backdrop. Sweet.

I would also like to thank all those people that have helped me realize a life long dream. Just know that I will cherish and display my Golden Lawn Dart Award forever!!!!!!!! Fot those of you who missed it: I missed the landing spot by 300 ft, landed in the grass, turned to the right a bit, WHACKED, the wind grabed a wing and spun the glider almost 180 while my ass was in the air mooning the gazebo as I spun, help then arrived... ( And a big thanx to whomever helped me)

Thanx to all who made it such a great event!!!!!!

Thanks to Falcon 40-miler, Tom Casper for putting his lens to good use!

This was the first HG contest I had ever seen. I had a great time lying in the grass watching everyone spot land and also got to meet a few new people. Hopefully next year I can be more then a spectator.

Thanks for the pix. These are great. If we can place them in the archives through the main page of the website that would be great.

Separately, I want to express my appreciation for all you guys (and gals) who participate here. Without your feedback I would have no idea if folks enjoyed the activities that I work to create for the Club. Your pictures and forum messages mean a lot to me -- THANKS :D

(Keep your eye out for news regarding our Holiday Party 12/5/09 and the upcoming Parachute/Safety clinic 1/16/10)
