I like your use of the PG launch ramp, Oscar. I see you kept your hands nice and low and wrap around the front of the downtubes to augment pulling in the bar. It also looked like you were semi-prone rather than fully upright or seated. I've seen this on other videos of your flights and I'm wondering whether you'd be better off with a different harness? As I watched your landing I could see that the suspension lines on your harness are so close together that it's phsyically impossible for you to get anywhere near upright. You are in the same pickle that I am with my Rotor Kickass harness which cannot be rocked upright unless I have my hands high above my shoulders on both downtubes. On my cocoon harness I can go past upright and actaually get in the seated position with my legs forward which makes following the BLES method a breeze.
So, I'm glad that you've been using your GoPro so much. This helps me see my own predicament that much better. If you watch the video of my top-landing practice at Marshall Peak from Monday you can see me straining to pull in the bar on my Falcon for the above stated reasons. Other things go on in that video which result in a slight whack and a bush landing, but the issue of not being able to go upright and pull in with hands low on the DTs is clearly visible as well. http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/forum/20091020/2724

TOP LANDING MARSHALL
Nice top landing jonathan ,you looked like you were really tired ,all those landings and the hike up must have wore you out .I can actually get my self upright but it's not comfortable the lines cut in to me so I save it for landings the rest of the time I'm semi prone or prone .Lately I've been working on RLF and Joe's got me landing at constant speed trying not to pull in.I have been thinking about getting a different harness maybe for Christmas I'll get one.I like flying with my camera it helps me to see & fix problems or potencial problems with my flying and landings.Ya I can see you straining to pull in .and the switching wind might have been a rotor .It looks like your glider got turned and you were trying to keep it from going over on the top landing mimi whack. any way it looks like fun, keep the videos coming.
Alex's Video was burned to DVD ,and soon you to can have your very own copy for the low low Introductory price of $9.these will go fast so act now.call 1800 got mine nowmax wrote:Oscar what happened to Alex's video?
Jonathan you know how to entertain people I didn't know that you could use a hang glider to cut some of that Bush down, do you need a special cutting base tube to do that job? Nice video
Max, I just bond broken glass to my base tube and side wires like they use on the lines of fighting kites. Also works a treat for pesky PGs that happen to be kiting up on Marshall while I'm trying to top land on a busy day.max wrote:............I didn't know that you could use a hang glider to cut some of that Bush down, do you need a special cutting base tube to do that job?
