Hi All,
I just got back from the hospital and walked away with a concussion. broken clavicle, bruised hip chest and left wrist.
I will continue my hang gliding adventures after I heal and will post in detail what happened tomorrow.

Hi Mike,
I'm just glad it's you writing this and not, well you know........
The last time I saw you, you were having smooth sailing all up and down Kagel ridge and over to Trash with lots of speed and altitude, then I was off to parts unknown and never looked back. At the party several pilots mentioned that you got behind the ridge and then got behind the infamous "Doughnut" where the house rotor troll had you for afternoon tea and not as his guest. I'm sorry if I jinxed you in the LZ this morning when I was joking about you having to wait until you had health insurance once again before resuming your flying. Honestly, I didn't mean a jinx but that cloth doll likeness of you slipped out of my back pocket in flight then fell into the boot of my harness where I inadvertently crushed it when I was repositioning my feet shortly after crossing the Pacoima Wash. How was I to know it was a VooDoo Mike?
Ahh, dang. My neighbor's cat just snatched the darned thing from the front seat of my car and started chewing it's head off. Mike? Are you there Mike? Of geez, man. I'm really sorry about this...........
To make it up, I'll play that "Two Live Jews" Parody CD that you gave me last year in your honor.
hey mike,
glad you got off as easily as you did! while you're healing, you should come to the l/z anyway and just sit and listen to that group of ne'er-do-well litespeed pilots as they critique themselves and others. YOU WILL LEARN SO MUCH! i did, and continue to. and what sucks the most about the 13 months of hang gliding that i missed is that everyone (except me) saw it coming--it was a totally pointless and preventable accident. slamming in really hurts and it's hard on the body. keep you ears open, there are people in our l/z who DEFINITELY know what they are talking about and their flying ability makes that clear.
best of luck healing!
p.s. congrats on having insurance. try NOT to use it again!
glad you'll be back!
