Today the county started releasing water from the dam as a means to fill up some of the settling ponds downstream of us. This is how they re-charge the aquifer (raise the level of the underground water table). This release will continue for 24 hours.
I was told that it was a limited release (flow) that had the potential to reach the runway ramp that runs up to the hang 4 l/z, and perhaps cause a little damage to the bank. This means that it could also ravage our runway in the wash on its way to the bank.
As of 4 pm today, I'm happy to report that the river remained in its original channel, east of our wash runway (thanks to the new berm created by Ken Andrews, J Devorak, Jim Thompson, and of course the skip loader). I feel like we keep dodging bullets! We're very lucky.
