Is there any consideration being given to "naming" the Pavilion?
Also, is there any consideration of "acknowledging" contributors both those that contributing money and effort?

Yes, Don, some thought has been given to naming the pavilion. My first suggestion was "Dahlsten Pavilion", a sentimental favorite. For fun, "Rome's Rancho " comes to mind. How about "Don's Digs?"
I'm open to suggestions. However, if one benefactor were to make a large donation, say, 50% of the construction costs, I could be persuaded to name it after her/him. Kind of like UCLA. Ronald Reagan's friends donated a huge sum without which the hospital would not have been built. The academic faculty, reputedly, took issue with naming it after Ronnie. The "friends" said "fine, just give us back the money." You know how that turned out.
I also considered selling parts or plaques to mount on parts for smaller donors. I'm thinking a "wall of honor." Again, I'm open to suggestions. First, and foremost, I want to see this thing started. The membership can argue about naming.

I'm expecting more infromation and possibly a resolution to the obstacles in the next two weeks. I'll let you know.

Conributions
The prospect of obtaining donations for the construction - with or without naming rights - is a perfect example of why I felt the Club should have gotten a 501(c)(3) tax status. When you are talking a 33% - 50% tax benefit - it really does matter. Knowing that the true cost of a donation is significantly less than the check amount makes it easier for me to write sizable donations yearly to schools, animal rescue groups, etc.
That said, I have been approached in the past to head-up the effort to research the issue and present it to the Board for their consideration and discussion, etc., etc. Due to personal matters that had and continue to have higher priority, and a general lack of interest in dealing with and getting approval from the Board - I have done nothing. I have supplied the names of the individuals that I have discussed this with to members of the Club. Maybe now would be the time to work on this matter as it can take 1+ years.
If the Club is serious about obtaining contributions from individuals maybe the Club should make an effort to get the Federal and State Governments to subsidize the cost via a 501(c)(3) tax status.

Based upon my limited research and discussions with individuals that were involved in gettting a 501(c)(3) for Crestline and for Elsinor there are no negatives. One of the Board members had questions regarding the fact that SHGA owns the LZ land where CSS and Elsinor do not own any land. Certainly a valid concern that we want to be absolutely certain what would happen in any circumstance(s).
Realistically, the biggest hurdle is getting all (or at least a majority) the Board Members and Directors to agree to seek a change when everything seems OK now - basically overcoming a mind set of "why fix something that is not broken". My fading memory is that Crestline's motivation came when Federal or State funds were available as a result of some fires (disaster recovery money) but the money could only go to 501(c)(3) organizations.
The process takes submitting paperwork, documenting the justification, responding to follow-up questions (if any) from the IRS, and about $1,000. Much of the "learning curve" has already been done by others (CSS & Elsinore) that are more than willing to advise. It takes ONE individual to head up this process and deal with all the issues - that person is just NOT ME!

Just as so many other good ideas brought up by many other good people, this one by you, Don, will go unexplored because no one will step up to take care of it. Not that I'm pointing the finger at anyone. I won't do it either. I'm not a tax law wizard.
However, thanks to Joe's efforts we do have a lot of extra, future capital from the water rate change. Which will go toward more grass on the ramp by Rob's efforts. Which will be ready by the time we, hopefully, begin construction on the new pavilion, thanks to Joe's work. And we have the support of a lot of the neighborhood, the Forrest Service & the local politicos thanks to many who have thanklessly toiled on the BOD. But now, I ramble.
Anyway, I think we could probably afford the $1000 dollars.
Maybe someone will have time next year. You can make your donation then.
