Well, it turned out to be too windy on launch. The only person who flew was another pilot from Big Sur. Here's a video of his launch.

We were just day tripping, and none of us (bar the brave OP) had any desire to launch that day. Those guys that flew weren't part of the Sylmar crew. They were from up the coast somewhere... Santa Barbara or Santa Cruz (or Big Sur as Tom suggested), i think. I'm not sure if they stayed out there or drove back up the coast.
It looks like a really nice site, though, and there's probably a camp site somewhere... I think you could land a 747 in that LZ.
