Problem Solved
I hear David Jebb is available. Maybe he could run your site and make sure that everyone pays up?
for good reason, which is demonstrated on an almost weekly basis, i'd like to say that our club is larger than this. we take care of each other; we've been taken care of. we get high with the help of our friends. we are participants in the most magnificent sport known to man!! please, let's not police one another with what is ultimately petty bullshit, or politicize ourselves into the ground. (also known as a slam-in...) let's just FLY!
we HAVE to stick together. there are far too many vids of our stupid appxs. and whacks on youtube! if WE don't support US, no one else will...
peace, bros!
p.s. don quackenbush is currently sailing around the world and says hi!

Unfortunately we get a fair number of scabs at Crestline. Some members started posting the identities of the scabs on the club forum. Seems like no one wants to be the bad LZ cop out at AJX.greblo wrote:Anyone have any problems with the way the Crestline club handles their finances (site monitors collecting fees). It's efficient and respectful.

That's not a difficult problem. Presently, I don't believe anyone wants to turn our membership requirements into a "Gestapo ritual". Finding the balance that protects the club's insurance policy and having people respect the system is what we can easily live with, and I suspect the entire board shares that opinion.

I had no issues at all with the way Crestline handles the fee collections. The few times I was approached it was very pleasant.
Often there isn't anyone around for this task but they have a nice area to handle the form completion, pen and envelopes available and location to deposit your fee and waiver.
I don't think it is negative to ensure that appropriate fees are paid and I really think the waiver forms are very important for folks that are not local to ensure we are protected legally as much as possible.

Crestline Procedures
It is my understanding that the Crestline Procedures is motivated by needing to make sure everyone is insured because that is a clause in their lease agreement. The actual cost of having the college kid there to check everyone is equal to or exceeds the extra income. I believe the membership checker is there, basically, only Sat & Sun during the summer months.
SHGA should also be concerned about USPHA membership for insurance reasons.
I personally can't stomach FREE LOADERS! and people that don't pay are exactly that!
If you can afford all the equipment you can afford $5 or $10 for a day use fee.

For what it's worth, I like the idea of a voluntary sign-in sheet because it serves several purposes that all contribute to the club.
I also like the idea of having all members informally sharing the responsibility of introducing themselves to unfamiliar faces and helping them comply with the club's requirements.
I am not so much in favor of formalizing this as one person's job because that makes it "someone else's job" when it's not your turn on duty. I'd prefer for everyone to think of it as their duty all the time.
But this choice probably depends on how bad the problem has become. Does anyone have an estimate of how many people currently "sneak in" to Sylmar in an average month?
