...The Brazilian was arrested in 2003 while trying to enter Indonesia with 13.4 kilograms of cocaine hidden in his hang glider. The sentence of death was issued the following year.

It's hard for me to feel sorry for the guy. We're not talking about a joint in an Altoids case. Assuming $100 a gram, the value of the product he was smuggling equals four or five decades of income for the average American household. I personally flew into Jakarta about a year and a half ago, and one of the first things I noticed before getting to customs were multiple signs declaring that drug smuggling was punnishable by execution.

If you don't want to get executed, don't smuggle seven figures worth of coke into a Muslim country.

Ya here they set you up with room and board ,free meals ,color TV ,recreation ,schooling ,a job and the more you smuggle in the longer you get to stay and enjoy the amenities.

Now see, this story would have been WAY cooler if the Brazilian HG pilot had gotten caught while trying to FLY his hang glider with all that stash across the Jakartan border. There could have been this whole "evade and escape" thing and movie rights. The CIA could have been involved. Drugs for guns. The Brazilian citizenship could have been a cover. Chuck Norris could have played the lead. There could have been some forgotten POWs or something that he happens into in the jungle, all starved and emaciated, hoping beyond hope for some help after 40 years of imprisonment. As it is, its this kind of Homer Simpson thing where the dumbass gets caught at the airport with drugs in his hang glider bag. Duoh!
