Brad was sure quick to point out the loss, but what he didn't point out was that the recall was 52% in favor and 42% against. Brad wants to ignore that 42% as if they didn't exist.

The question is whether Bill Helliwell will ignore that 42% as well.

Thanks to all who voted for me, and who've supported the Hawks.

Results

Brad,

I would like to know the actual results of the voting. As Bob pointed out it was 52% "For" and 42% "Against" the recall. What was the vote for Bob and what was the vote for Bill?

Are the actual results available or is this yet another thing the USHPA keeps to its' self?

If you can't tell by the question - I'm one of those that don't trust the USHPA leadership (EC) farther than I can throw them! :x

Recall

Post by Brad Hall »

Don,
The results are as follows;

The ballots from the Region 3 recall/special election have been received, verified and tabulated by our accounting firm. The results are as follows:

Number of ballots received = 441
Number of ballots disallowed = 13
Number of valid ballots = 428

1. Should Robert Kuczewski be removed from office?

Yes = 222 (52%)
No = 188 (44%)
Abstain = 18 (4%)

2. If removed from office, which one of the following candidates should fill the vacant position?

Robert Kuczewski = 154 (36%)
William Helliwell = 231 (54%)
Other (write-in) = 1 (N/A)
Abstain = 42 (10%)

What's next?

Post by Bob Kuczewski »

Brad,

I got 188 votes against the recall. That's more votes than I got when I was originally elected (122) and it was more votes than you got in the last election (111).

Now we can continue to fight for "all the marbles" or we can recognize that there are two large groups (viewpoints) in Region 3 and both groups deserve fair representation.

You know that my key issue is finally balancing the Soaring Council so we have all perspectives being represented. It would go a long way toward bringing peace to the Region if you and Bill Helliwell would work to support that balance. I ask you to take the high road and commit to making that happen.

Sincerely,
Bob Kuczewski

Hey Barton,
The normal Region 3 election is coming up in November and Bill has not committed to running for re-election. How about stepping up to the plate? I'll even toss in one of Oscar's Hang IV plates to sweeten the pot. :lol: :twisted:

Hey Allen,

I kind of found that a bit harsh in many respects as well. Despite how everything happened I am sure Bob had good intentions in what he was trying to do yet managed to alienate himself with his actions in many ways. Maybe the new person will be able to get more done just for the sake of it not being Bob asking so maybe things will move forward again with less opposition. Who knows.

I have only met Bob once and he seemed like a likeable guy and hope that depite all this he is still able to fly and enjoy this great hobby. Too bad he has to still pay dues to an organization that ousted him..

Bob K was just basically Tarred and Feathered in front of a large crowd. The condition is not permanent and if you look behind you, you will see the number of his supporters in the crowd is growing. That being said, I did get to meet and have spirited discussions with Bill Helliwell on Saturday for about a half hour. He does seem like a nice individual and things should run smoother at USHPA. Bill started flying around 1972 and a few years later took lessons with Grebo. I gave him a brief history of the LZ and the challenges. It looks like we will give peace a chance. BTW It was a wonderful flying day 15mph,gust to 22 on launch, easy to span Towers and Lances multiple times.
