our water bill has been reduced by 28%,so why is the board worried obout the cost? we already cut off that h2o line,we are just extending it further north!let's go for the turf. rome

The water bill has been cut by a hell of a lot more than 28% with our LZ being reclassified as "non-profit", as opposed to commercial. You are correct in that adding grass from the bottom of the run-up hill to the bull's eye will not result in more water cost than we used to pay one year ago. Everyone can see the work Joe has done in mending compost into the soil in this area in preparation for grass.
The subject of grass and sprinkler installation in this area will be discussed this Thursday at the May board meeting. We will review the water cost numbers at that time and make a decision. I personally share your opinion about adding grass in this area and think it provides good value for our members.
Other members opinions are welcome between now and the Thursday meeting. After all, this is about what the membership wants.

The BOD has voted in favor in installing a sod landing ramp that measures 25 feet wide by 125 feet long, starting at the bottom of the ramp and ending at the bull's eye. We will be needing lots of help in prepping the soil, installing sprinklers, and laying the sod itself. We hope to complete the work by next Saturday so watch the web and look for the work party call for next Saturday.

The new grass in in. Thanks to all who showed up to help. We had MANY helpers and the whole job was done in a little over 2 hours.
Plesae DO NOT WALK OR LAND ON THIS GRASS until the Spring Air event. The root system needs to fully establish itself in the new soil before it takes any abuse. After that, this type of grass (Bermuda) should be very durable. This is the same grass used on golf courses and was recommended to us by the president of the SIBL baseball league.
