Details as I know them now are that we will receive 6 pallets of sod Saturday morning. I am not sure exactly when but it should be early. I think if we get enough volunteers to start by 9:00 am we have a good chance of completing by fly time. It must all be laid same day or it will die.

All those who want to land on grass (2 weeks after laying) please help.

Rob,
The times that I've helped lay sod back in Michigan, they suggested that you don't mess around on it for a couple of days after it's been laid. Is it going to be a good idea to lay it when people may be landing on it? It might get ripped up and moved around when people land on it that early after laying it. With all of the people that will be flying over the weekend, someone is bound to land on it.

Of course you are correct in that SOMEONE will probably land on it before it is ready. What can we do? Planting from seed would only be worse.

Just for clarity, NOBODY should land on it for 2 WEEKS after Saturday. Any early landings will mess it up since the root system will not be established.

So, if you think you are good enough to land on the upslope, make sure you are good enough to MISS the new sod area and land between it and the orange cones for 2 weeks after this Saturday. Today Andy Beam placed the white makers in this area so people will be encouraged to land in the preferred place while the sod is rooting.

Anyone landing on the new grass before June 6th will be assigned grass repair duty!

Hehehehe. Definitely at least assign them to grass repair duty.
(Maybe give them a sledge hammer and make them bust apart some of the rocks in the wash as well!!!)
