Talking with the locals, it appears that XC to the NNE is banned due to enhanced security at the nuclear power plant.

A gust front came through eventually. The wind went from 5mph to 30 and the temp dropped 20F in about 3 minutes.
If you are in the area or want to learn tow not in Florida, try "Enjoy Field." They have 3 Kolb's for towing or ultralight adventures. Huge grass field cut into the corn. 2 Acre pond for swimming. A bunk house for lodging.
And good flying: The soaring is an incredible 3D experience. The bottom of the thermals are marked by swirling corn or soybeans. The tops are marked by clouds. And the sun shining through the Midwest hase makes columns of dark and light. Closest thing I could describe it as would be swimming in a kelp forest. I wouldn't mind planning a trip out there.
