Big Sur (2011) - Setting the record straight!

Post by M@rkus »

Contrary to apparent popular belief I did not lead everybody into a doomed down-wind landing.
I landed uphill cross-wind. Chris landed right behind me and we both had good landings.
Maybe it doesn't qualify as "graceful".

Here is a picture of me walking by the streamer.

And here is my cool foggy approach and landing:

Happy trails...

I stand corrected! Photographic proof trumps my memory any day of the week; Markus landed correctly. My apologies for believing and stating otherwise.

No matter who leads who what way, each pilot is responsible for their landing approach, no matter what the previous guy did. I take full responsibility for landing downwind. I should have looked for the streamer instead of the guy in front of me.....

Markus, your landing rocked!!! And your pancake cooking skills are spectacular!!!

Well said, BJ. No harm, no foul. Everybody had a safe, fun trip. And Marcus got to fly Cayucos on the way home. He was a happy man by the end of Sunday.

Thanks to all, especially Cyndia and Kat for setting things up.

Ultra thanks to you, BJ, for preparing such amazing meals each morning and afternoon. I get choked up just thinking of those sausages and pancakes.

Can't wait for next year's trip. Hopefully my truck's AC does not crap out next time. :)

On a trip down in Mexico I landed next to a cactus patch. From witness viepoint a quater mile away it looked like I landed in the cactus patch. I NEVER COULD SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT! I saw your picture. Looked downwind to me.
eat right, exercise, die anyway!
