So Much Going On In the LZ

Please come out and share in the fun. We need more participation. It really is neat to be part of building the best flight park in the country.

Here are a few of the simultaneous projects that we need help with. We could sure use some new blood out here.

Tom's roof - He's here tomorrow (Wednesday) and all week.

Glider Storage Bays - Tubes should be here tomorrow, Wednesday ready to install.

Retaining walls partially dug and need final grooming - Talk to me and I'll show you what to do.

Thursday's parking lot resurfacing day- We need all cars off the lot for much of the day and 4 or 5 helpers to "massage" the asphalt chips into the places that are too small for the big machine (grader). Final rolling/compacting will be on Monday.

Build portable wooden forms for concrete curb pouring in the parking lot, along the grass (the railroad ties are rotting). When these are ready, we can get free concrete from a friendly source.

Sanding the new rafters for weather sealing.

Lube the Skip Loader (it's a big club investment)

Clean and organize the tool storage shed. Lots to throw out.

I'm blown away by how much is being accomplished in the LZ. The roof, the ramp, glider storage, paving, woodworking, new lights and an electric gate. Just amazing progress. Thanks to all you people for your efforts, financing, and enthusiasm. It's great to see it just keep going and going, getting better every day.

One thing we need is a better idea for the trash. Having all the trash cans right out front when you approach the gazebo kinda ruins the ambiance. They need to be close by, but we need some way to hide them. Maybe an attractive partition of some kind to put them behind, or en enclosure with the cans inside and holes to drop the trash into. Any ideas?

The gazebo is really making a difference in the LZ now that it's finally wearing a roof structure. It's a commanding presence.

A big thanks to Sebastian, for the work and expertise on the new gate and control, and anyone else who helped. Very nicely done. And a special thanks to Erwin for financing it.

Thanks also to Fernando and his guys for the conduit and masonary work, Malury, Chippy and Joey for helping me pull electrical and low voltage wiring, George for helping me with the light pole, Phil for installing the breakers to power the gate and lights.
The gate motor, safety photo electric safety sensors, reflectors and main intercom unit was purchased at cost, plus donated electrical and low voltage wiring, electrical breakers and no cost on labor for the tasks done above, and negotiations with the contracted work there was a 50% savings on this project. Big thanks to Erwin for funding the project.
The intercom pilaster is not done yet the stucco will match the pavilion stucco color and the top cap will match the color of the pavilion room. Its amazing how the club members have stepped up when needed.
Someone asked me this weekend why I do so much work for the club I said because I like to see progress and get things done. After thinking about it I thought of other reasons, hang gliding has given me my best man at my wedding and best friend, 1/3 of my businesses customers from member referrals, 1000's of yours of amazing flying, great times, stories, great friends and a second home with a big front yard and mountain to fly when I want . So I guess its a way of showing my gratitude.
