What I don't understand is why it's so important that it be here, so close to residences. Other more remote mountains around are certainly all of similar composition, and I assume there are many property owners of those locations who would want to do it for the same reasons that this one does. As Greblo said, it's just not compatible with a residential location like this. The impact on property values alone amounts to a huge theft by a small group from the larger group of residents.

Why not get the Aggregate from Santa Clarita? Does a mine exist there? It is closer than Kern County.
