The Denny's and Chevron on Hubbard : Historical Interest

After writing "Death to Pigs" in the blood of a victim, some of the Manson family drove the the Denny's in Sylmar for milkshakes. Some personal items of the victim where hid in the toilet tank of the chevron across the street.

I looked through my scrapbook of flying during the early 70's and found a menu from Denny's. Sure enough, Manson must have dined there!

Sorry, Opie, wrong Denny's. They probably mean the Denny's at the Roxford exit from the 5 Fwy. At that time, it may have been a Sambo's Pancake restaurant (anyone remember Tiger Butter?). There's a Chevron there, too.

The Denny's on Hubbard was called something else until the '90s or maybe even 2000. I don't think it even existed in the '70s. The 210 freeway opened about that time. I lived down the street from there and worked at the Jack in the Box when I was 18. Charlie never showed his face there, either.

Since I'm hungry it seems logical that they wrote about a dead pig and went to Denny's not only for a milkshake, but also an Ultimate Bacon Breakfast since that is most likely made of pork bellies.

Do they serve breakfast all day?

Not that I'm boasting, but I did have the opportunity to see Charlie Manson once.
While Jim was working at Jack in the Box, I was in downtown LA looking for a job. I think it was 1971. Manson was on trial and anyone could go observe so I did.
We had eye contact. He was way scarey in person.
