Follow up on the incident
~~Thanks for the shout out, Janyce!!!~~
Here's something I received from one of my aviation email lists I belong to:
Hello Flyers,
The following video was put together by one of the members on the Los Angeles airspace committee. It is the flight tracker from LGB.
It first shows the GA plane 73X inbound from Lompoc to LGB VFR and on a 1200 code. Then you see an F18 (not F16) coming from the east and then an F16 to follow up. There are tapes of LGB tower telling the guy he can land on 25R at LGB and then you hear SURF 12 (F18) tell the tower that he is going to make a low approach over the airport.
The guy in the Cessna 182 had NO idea he was being intercepted and thought the fighters around him were "cool"...!!! (Too bad he had "medicinal" marijuana onboard).
The different little colored boxes around LGB airport are the noise sensors... you see that when the fighters fly over the area at low level they bloom in red and orange.
John actually shows the path of flight 3 times, first in 2 X speed, then at 4:12 at 15 times the speed, and finally with a panned out view.
Once again the lesson is: CHECK TFRs BEFORE YOU JUMP IN YOUR PLANE!! (or your hang glider).
