Yeah... the bit just after he takes off, and the camera angle changes, that looks fake to me... there doesn't seem to be enough strain in the sail to account for the weight that is being lifted; the wing tips seem to be forced down, when the mechanism doesn't really look like it is applying any force at the tips; lack of ANY visible roll throughout the flight on a wing that has far less pendular stability than a hang gliding rig; and the landing is just TOO perfect.

I remain a sceptic...

The video has to be absolutely fake. If a human puts out 1/3hp and a climb like that would take 10hp to 20hp its off by orders of magnitude.

If the Icarus with a trained athlete using the more powerful legs can barely get off the ground then the guy in this video is not a human. He could have an adamantium skeleton like Wolverine.

But seriously folks, what is TRULY amazing is that anyone with more than a 5th grade education would be fooled for even a minute. Wow.

I seem to have misread the article, this is a motorized flapper.

They mention Turnagy Motors for power,

and iphone style accelerometers for allowing the positioning of the arms to control the speed of the flapping,

but I see no mention of an electrical power source.

Therefore, if its powered then it may be possible to lift a person.
