I'm going to be adding to this as I think of things.

Basic gurney with straps to immobilize a back/neck injury patients

Tourniquet. May be useful with a profuse bleeder. It's a very temporary fix.

Printed BASIC CPR instructions in LARGE BOLD TYPE taped or glued to the inside cover of the kit. Steps 1, 2, 3. Easy for anyone to understand, with illustrations.

Printed instructions on how to stop a severe bleeder. Arm, leg, neck, torso

Hydrogen Peroxide

Printed instructions on how to treat/not treat a severe head trauma

Basic defibrillator

Hi all, any updates on this topic. We're having one of our 2 annual meetings at Soboba Sept 1 and we have this on the agenda. I'm hoping the membership will support moving forward and ideally we'd purchase together to seek maximum discounts. I'll bet the CSS crowd would buy one too.

What came to mind was the movie Saving Private Ryan where medics and non medics administered Morphine Syrettes. The medical kit would have to be locked up tighter than the forest service gate.

Also directions to nearest hospital: Olive View UCLA Medical Center is about 2+ miles west of our LZ. If its a minor injury like a toe nail I think it helps to call any 800# on any Insurance card you have and they will direct you to the cheapest contracted provider.

Hey A/C, I found a very good company and they provided just about everything on the list, as well as dust proof containers for a very reasonable price. I'll talk to rob and see where we stand... will pm you this weekend.

In all seriousness,

Let's equip the top of the hill with an emergency tandem glider and double-decker gurney tandem harness.

In the event of an injury at the top of the hill, the injured could be safely flown to the LZ.

Imagine the top harness replaced with a backboard:
