Radio status

This is a status of where we are in the project and what is needed

-Erwin donated a Brand new radio and antenna
-Hose B donated the box that the radio is housed in
-Philldor installed the box and electrical conduits
-I got the power supply materials & PTT
-Mike will make the mic & PTT connector
-Mike & myself will complete the install

Parts still needed
-100ft of RG-8 antenna cable (antenna is going on the old storage container under ground to the pavilion)
-2 PL259 connectors
Its $280.00 for the cable $2.79 a foot if anyone has a source or has any please let me know.

I can pitch in on the RG8 expense.

Also I have 24/7/365 access to pro soldering equipment, meters, etc. It's literally a pro RF laboratory. I can terminate coax with the best of them.

The radio installation is complete. R/C Paul donated the antenna cable and Seabass fininshed the installation.

To activate - flip on the toggle swith located under the radio box. There is a volume control at the top of the stair on the left side that drives the single speaker mounted on the south beam. For now, the microphone is locked inside the radio cabinet.

RC Paul, myself and my employee completed most of the installation. Paul was a huge help. Thank you. Paul is going to make a box mounted PTT, I am going to add a red LED power status light that way you can see its on from far away. Then the installation will be complete. If needed I can add an additional speaker in the pavilion. If someone has a industrial vinyl label maker you can print a RED warning label 4"H x 6"W (GENERAL USE- TO BE USED BY LICENSED RADIO OPERATORS, FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS- BY EVERYONE) Also make other separate labels (MIC), (TALK) (ON) (OFF)

I will deal with the warning signs. I wanted to wait until the work was finished.

If anyone doesn't have another idea in wording... I'll use the wording Seabass has suggested.

I've had Paul do work at my house doing different things. It doesn't matter what it is, if you have something you can't do, due to time or knowledge... Paul is your best bet.

His quality is second to none... a real Ben Franklin.

Worth every nickel.
