For those who don't know, the board of directors recently voted to pay a contractor $6,100 to build a metal roof between the two glider storage bins. We considered bids from 4 different vendors and ultimately decided on the one that provided a 90 mph wind guarantee. We expect construction to begin around the first of the new year. The purpose of the roof is to provide a dry storage area and to protect the tractor, which will be stored underneath.
Our current storage area's are either full (A and B boxes) or impractical due to access issues (under the pavilion). The idea is that we can add a large storage cabinet alongside of one of the bins to provide easy access for commonly used items and relieve congestion in the current boxes. To keep costs low, we could build it out of 3/4" plywood and build it ourselves. Any volunteers for cabinet building? Any other ideas for the use of this future dry area?
I really like the idea of creating storage space for the extra items that are being stored in the "office." Currently, we cannot access anything on the shelves because the space is packed with construction/maintenance related items.
The Tin Woodsman likes the idea of the storage too. We can ask him but his jaw needs to be oiled first because we left him out in the rain and he rusted, because we are out of storage space.

In honor of the event, Doug will be making tin roof sundaes for every member of the club. To be eaten only in the shade between the storage sheds.
