About 15 pilots went up in 3 trucks. O, BTW, the setup area is nice and flat (I hadn't seen it after grading). It was sunny, but cold on the top.
Around 1:00 we started to launch into a nice S wind.
The air was pleasant, good lift. Good sink too.
Around 2:00 a rapid moving layer of high clouds, approaching from SW, started to cast a shadow over the west side and was rapidly closing in.
Soon it was overcast everywhere, from West Towers to Big T and further.
Interestingly, it didn't shot down on us, but the air became even more pleasant in terms of buoyancy, but colder higher up.
Some landed, others (myself including) continued for another hour or so, and the cloud cover started slowly dissipate, so we god patchy sunshine back on.
At this point it was so buoyant, you could easily get to 5-6K, point it towards Big T and just drive it, without loosing much.
Only it was too cold at those altitudes (30-35-ish).
So, overall, finally a nice break in the weather pattern, good turnout, lots of happy pilots. Altitudes around 5-6K and maybe more, between West Towers and Big T.
Quite possibly the last one in 2012 (well, at least for some).
