Videos of landings at Kagel bailout LZs

Post by Spitfire »

At some point I'm going to have to land somewhere besides the Kagel LZ, and hopefully that somewhere is a bailout LZ with an uneventful landing. Whilst I've walked most of them, I think it would be really useful to have videos of good approaches and landings, and I think other pilots would benefit too. So please post what you have here of the good ones.

Here's the one I have of Olive View, thanks to JD:

Wouldn't be nice if we could have such a video repository? All the video already exists. We could all enjoy seeing several video setups and patterns of the various land out locations. However there is a single limiting constraint.

We can't both have an open forum and these videos. It would make it look we are openly and notoriously trespassing at these locations.

Solution: Make the forum only visible to those whom make simple accounts. Talk to D. Str*ub of the O.Report. There are 101 problems that are associated with allowing web crawlers to catalog our posts. This is only one, and a minor problem of open forums in general.

That said; me trespassing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCEOiYZ4SZM
:Note JD has a better video of this same event:

Thanks for the vid. A member's only forum would be ideal but if that's too much to do how about a private Facebook group?

The guy running ozreport ends up having continuous flame wars, law suits, Tad Eareckson s, and the like; just to be subpoenaed about his forum. By simply limiting web crawlers like google from our posts, this is almost entirely eliminated.

Richard posted a good thread about the alternative Big-T LZ: http://www.shga.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=18868

I have a few of landing at the beehives, Dino's and the old Big-T Wash bailout. I'll post when my bandwidth is freed up.

Thanks JD.

OP - If that's what Davis Straub has to put up with, a private, closed non-SHGA affiliated group would be the best. Anyone can join the ozreport and see everything, same as here even if it was closed to web-crawlers.

If anyone subpoenas SHGA a separate closed group would have nothing to do with it, and they would have to know of the existence of the group in the first place. Probably a bit too extreme a measure for some HG pilots just doing their thing but you never know!

Youtube allows anyone to create a playlist and attach any youtube videos to it for sequential playback. A playlist could be set up far each landout zone. I think you can set the start time for playlist playback, i.e. the landout occurs at 12:47 so that is the start point when that video is played.

Here is the pilot orientation video for Torrey Pines Glider port.
It shows the landout areas and which one you may have to pay a fine if you land there.
